Looking at rent and home prices in Rochester, I was surprised to find how expensive it was. Is there a nice area just outside Rochester that is less expensive?

Thanks!

Do you work there? What’s your commuting tolerance?

No I don’t, just looking at that general area. If I had a preference, it would be south of Rochester.

Thanks

I’ve spent lots of time in Rochester but not so much in the small towns around it. I know there are many who would disagree with me but most of the small towns in that part of the state ore not unique to one and other. Lanesborough was nice because it was on the Root River trail and it was quant and touristy. There are some pretty towns east of there on the river but in farm country all the small towns blend into each other’s except for the possibility of some obscure historical event or minor point of interest.

One thing to remember is that the roads can be very treacherous in the winter in S MN. The wind comes in and it doesn’t take that much snowfall to create hazardous travel.
