Good evening, I just booked my road test in Saint Cloud,MN. Could anyone tell me if the parallel parking there is done using cones or do you park on the street, behind another car?
TIA!

I doubt very much they would have you do it with a real live car, park between them that is. Would be a big liability for all the people that failed on that part of the test. Can you imagine all the dented bumpers!!!! I think it's the parallel parking is one that gets a lot of people. I failed mine the first time on that one thing. I am sure there are cones.

People in Minnesota like to think that our state government is well run but I hear of more and more people having to go outstate for their road test because the DVS stations in the Cities are booked up months in advance. A friend just took his daughter to Alexandria for her test.

And there are some people that think government in Minnesota is poorly run. I think we are generally well run but not perfect (see DMV computer SNAFU). Minnesota government usually scores well compared to other states on scores about government efficiency. I believe they are usually top 10. Many of those same people laud the private sector. However, after working in both corporations (five) and small businesses (2), I can assure you businesses can be poorly run but still profitable. The Peter Principle is real being both humorous and sad to observe. For some reason, people tend to hold government to a higher standard than corporations and our generally unaware of the many screw ups that occur in the private sector.

Not really.

If a business screws up and it affects the customers, they will go somewhere else. We really don’t have that choice in this case.

If several competing companies were allowed to give road tests, do you think people would patronize the one that made you wait the longest and go the furthest, or the one that had the shorter wait times and more convenient locations?

City of st cloud received massive government kickbacks for being a refugee resettlement city. brand new library, copshop, convention center etc. All these people had to learn how to drive. Many dont speak english so they are being taught in their language and are actually overwhelming the driving school hence the long waiting periods now as inmigrant refugees are the majority booking times to take the test etc
