Hi,

We are relocating to MN, my husband will be working in EP. I am confused in opting the schools for my kids, one in High School and other in Middle School. Academically, I see no difference between these schools. I need help in making choice based on the their extra curricular activities. My kids are actively involved in sports (soccer and swimming) and music.

Thanks!!

These are all very large schools with very high level sports programs. Only very exceptional athletes are able to play at the varsity/JV level in popular sports. That said, they will have a wide variety of extra curricular activists to choose from so your kids should be able to find something to get involved in.

Yes. Test scores in Edina have been falling off the last few years and the high school at least is probably not as good academically as Wayzata, Eden Prairie, or Minnetonka.

EHS is considered better academically than EP, and at least the equal of the other two.

To the OP...both Wayzata, Tonka and EP are enormous HS's, with enrollments well over 3000. Wayzata projects to have 3800 students in the next few years. EHS being just a bit behind them with approx. 2700 students. Edina is usually considered one of the most desirable school districts in the state. Wayzata and Tonka are also very good.

At present, Edina Boys Varsity soccer is ranked #1 in the state. I believe Tonka Girls is #1, or is it Wayzata? You will usually find that the Lake conference, which is home to all of those schools, is the most competitive in the State, though it depends on the sport, of course. EP is king in football, Edna in Boys hockey and girl's Tennis, etc... all 4 towns have excellent facilities. Wayzata and Edina have just gone through large 100M+ renovations to their HS's.
