Minnesota. Why would we cede it to the Canadians?

Waste of time. It literally would take an act of congress and would benefit hardly anyone. What would we get from the Canadians in return? Besides, our government can't even keep itself open.

So... 1700 people have signed this petition, though the ~120 people who live there don't appear to support it. In a nation of 320+ million people, you can find people who will support virtually anything. As an example, I see that the following petition is currently at the White House website: Order Marines to rescue the child sex slaves under the Getty Center in LA. The text of the peitition says that said child sex slaves are also being killed and eaten. And? 698 geniuses have signed it since it was created on December 16th.

It should be noted that since it takes an act of the United States Congress (and, in this case, an act of the Canadian Parliament) to affect border changes, it appears that the people petitioning the White House over this matter are a little confused. Also, the article cites the origin of the Northwest Angle as a 'surveying error'. It was not. Rather, it was due to the faulty assumption that the Mississippi River must extend at least as far north as Lake of the Woods. But since the upper Mississippi had not yet been discovered by Europeans it could hardly have been surveyed, correctly or incorrectly. More confusion.
