We live in an area that has been hard hit by frog die-off. I have a back yard pond but haven't had a visitor for years. Always enjoyed hearing them at night. Glad they have found a safe haven with you.

Same with toads. We used to make a game of it with the kids to clear the yard of the many toads which lived here before we mowed but I haven't seen one of them for a long time either.

What's really eerie to me is going for a ride in the country and noticing how much fewer birds are in the sky than there used to be.

Saw about a dozen pheasants near Vermillion, MN (just SW of Hastings) last week. Saw a big rooster flush on my way home from Lake Byllsbye (Cannon Falls area) yesterday.

Yep, it all boils down to the almighty dollar. And the rich get richer.
