I used to HATE winter, until I discovered two things.
The first is get one or more winter hobbies. Snowmobiling, ice hockey, skiing, etc.
The second is wear long underwear.
Now it's my favorite season!

I used to hate winter until this year. After that horribly hot and dry summer that we just had. The snow and moisture in the air feels good. I would hate the desert more than snow I think..

By "ski" I assume you mean downhill skiing? Cross-country skiing is all over the place.

These web sites might give you some idea of the various downhill skiing places/resorts/whatever around Minnesota and nearby areas.

Well, Lutsen is one of the biggest in the Mid-West, and Spirit Mountain is pretty good as well.
