Thanks. The area is full of deer and grouse, like someone else said.

The Chippewa national forest is east of Bemidji, and north of Grand Rapids. Get info on it, if you don't know about it already. There is alot of public land in it.

A lot of people come up here deer hunting, but there usually are more hunters during the first half of the season than the second half.

It's a really nice area between the Bemidji area and Grand Rapids area.

Does the Chippewa get overly saturated with hunters. During deer season the public hunting areas I am used to can get down right dangerous. Inexperienced hunters who will shoot at anything that will move are a hazard. Hopefully Minnesota hunters are more seasoned.

Yeah, there can get to be a lot of hunters around where I live, although there are more during the first half of the season than the second half. If you hunt on public land, you will eventually run into other hunters in the woods, but you're more likely to see their vehicle first.

Many of the locals have their own land to hunt on, and have other spots they go. I believe that many of the hunters who travel here to hunt from another area may also know someone local to hunt with.

That's just my experience anyways. My dad and I live up here, and hunt on public land behind his land. It gets hunted by 2 other groups that I know about, but I rarely see any other hunters in the woods that aren't in my party. My uncles and cousins also come up from southern minnesota and hunt there.

I hear about a handful of accidents every year, and a couple fights, but for the most part, other hunters will respect the fact that someone may be in making a deer drive at the time they were going hunting there. It's like if you see a vehicle or a hunter, maybe just find a different area for the afternoon.
