Hi there. My husband has recently applied for a job at the MSP airport. We are from CA, and don't mind a bit of a commute, although in winter it might be kind of a pain. I can't decide where to look, so maybe you can help. Here are my requirements:

*BEST schools possible
*Easy drive to downtown Saint Paul and the airport
*Anywhere east of St. Paul (N or S okay)
*someplace we could possibly build custom (lots available)

I am addicted to yoga and would want to go to St. Paul often to practice. But if we move, we may as well get the best schools possible, because our schools STINK here.

Any suggestions??? I'd like to be closer rather than farther to St. Paul. I'd love to live right in the city, but obviously there's no place to build there and all the existing homes have detached garages...as a Californian, I don't think I could hack that! Sorry to be such a weather wimp!

Mendota Heights - 10 minutes to St Paul, 15 minutes to the airport - no major roads. Awesome schools too. Check it out!

I agree. One thing about MN schools is that they are all pretty good. There are a lot of good choices for you. Look into Mahtomedi and Stillwater on the east, Mendota Heights, Eagan, Apple Valley, Rosemount, Lakeville on the south, Eden Prairie on the west. I personally don't like the northern suburbs so I can't really recommend anything that way.

My guess is that Stillwater might be your best "fit". They probably have a Yoga studio there--it is a very active town--lots of outdoor sports type of people of all ages too.

thanks golfgal. I LOVE Stillwater and they do have a yoga studio there -- I've never tried it. My sis-in-law lives in Lake Elmo so we've been out that way a lot. I'll look into that, also....
