“Back in my old neighborhood, there was a special contempt for the kind of guy who was always trying to get two other guys to fight each other. You completed my thoughts so well on why diversity across groups struggles to work. I believe all interest groups need strong and insightful leaders who have the ability to communicate needs in a compelling way that leads to mutual cooperation that benefits the whole. We don't see much of that anymore.

The irony is that this was a melee at a political party endorsement event for a NON-partison City Council election.

Not non-partisan (anything to do with a political party is by definition 'partisan'), but Mpls City Council is dominated by DFL so yes this represents a party fighting amongst itself, unfortunately.

The actions of the folks involved in this event should and have been condemned by community and DFL leaders. And to be fair, I wouldn't be so quick to pigeonhole these behaviors as representative/ indicative of a particular immigrant group. For the record, the immigrant group in question has been particularly successful in revitalizing Minnesota's main streets and achieving much professionally here in Minnesota. And it should similarly be noted that American politics as a whole have become increasingly violent in recent years, something we have seen increasingly from the right in many well-publicized events. And the more militant (and sometimes violent) activities from the left could arguably be influenced as much by America's younger generations' generalized anger and hard-lined stances on damn near everything....

A couple of researchers, publishing in peer-reviewed Current Psychology, attribute this rise in left-wing violence to narcissism in part. The article can be accessed here, and there is a .pdf that can be downloaded.

A groundbreaking study featured in the peer-reviewed journal Current Psychology uncovers a link between left-wing extremism, psychopathic tendencies, and narcissism.

"Given existing research, we predicted a correlation between high levels of left-wing authoritarianism and increased narcissism," the authors stated. This fresh perspective has led researchers Ann Krispenz and Alex Bertrams to introduce a novel term for this behavioral phenomenon: the "dark-ego-vehicle principle."

"An individual high in Left-Wing Authoritarianism (LWA) could brand anyone with opposing views as 'old fashioned', suppress free speech to control right-wing expression in educational institutions, or even justify violence to achieve their political objectives," the authors clarified.

Furthermore, the study reveals that privileged individuals exhibiting LWA often exploit their narcissism to make activism about themselves, diverting focus from the goal of achieving social equality for marginalized groups.

The emboldened sentence is interesting, for it has been stated elsewhere that members of the Minneapolis Black community claimed that the calls to defund the police and the actions to burn down a police precinct and local businesses actually hurt the Black community in reality. Many of the rioters that were arrested and charged were affluent, white liberals. The same was noted in the recent rioting in Atlanta.

So, after all of that entertaining and bizarre political passion ended, who won?

Did the losers concede in a civil and gracious manner?

Warsame has been permanently banned from seeking DFL party nominating endorsements for inciting violence at an endorsement convention. The DFL's new bylaws also permanently ban anyone else who may do this in the future:
