Illinois domestic terrorist (formerly known as) Michael Hari was sentenced today to 53 years in prison for the Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington (MN) in 2017. Michael Hari was convicted in December of last year and has since that time transgendered herself into Emily Hari.

In court documents filed since the conviction, Hari's attorney Shannon Elkins said her client has gender dysphoria and uses the legal name Emily.

In court Monday, Elkins said the defense wasn’t blaming gender dysphoria for the mosque bombing but that online "misinformation" and Islamophobia, combined with Hari's mental health issues led Hari to attack Dar Al Farooq.

U.S District Judge Donovan Frank said he was compelled to take Hari's intent into account. “It was clearly an act of domestic terrorism against a religious group,”

as long as she remains in jail forever and is treated like the animal she is, I'm fine with it.

The first sentence in the sixth to last paragraph in the linked article answered the question I had after reading the OP....namely...Is it possible Hari will be sent to a prison for women ?

"The judge said he’s prepared to recommend Hari to serve in a women’s prison. The two other co-defendants who pleaded guilty in this case are in jail awaiting sentencing."

apparently, final determination is up to the bureau of prisons

Mr Hari’s life is a bizarre mixture of fantasy and serious professional involvement. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois Police Training Institute and worked as a deputy sheriff for two years. He was elected to various small town offices in the late 90s.

Then, in 2000 he joined the Old Order of the German Baptists, an Amish-like group, and became a pacifist, abjured cars and drove a horse and buggy.

Somewhere along the line, he was married and had two daughters. When the marriage broke down, he abducted his daughters and spirited them off to a religious colony in the jungles of Belize. He only agreed to bring them back if he and the girls were able to appear on the daytime talk show Dr Phil...

...Which fantasy deserves to mitigate his sentence? Mr Hari’s dream of ridding the US of Muslims? Of Mexicans? Of being a pacificist? Of living a horse-and-buggy lifestyle? Of being a sheriff? Of being a militiaman? Of being a TV sensation? Or of being a woman?

As long as she remains in a male prison I'm okay with it.
