Hello everyone!

I will be moving to the cities in a few months to start my first full-time job out of college. Does anyone have any recommendations of neighborhoods in either Minneapolis or St Paul or nearby suburbs that fit within this criteria? I'm fairly familiar with touristy areas but haven't visited many neighborhoods.

1 br/ 1 ba around $1200 or below
20-30 commute to downtown Minneapolis
Decent public transportation
Access to nice parks/trails/lakes
Safe area
Not too far from restaurants and bars or shopping

Thank you!

If I were young and single, I'd probably live in the Highland Park area of St. Paul, NE Minneapolis, or possibly St. Louis Park

I’d suggest NE Mpls, but I’m biased as it’s the only part of the city I really like. St Anthony is right next to it and safer, so either would work. Roseville next to them has all the shopping you’d need.

St Louis Park, Hopkins for burbs. Minneapolis and St Paul neighborhoods depend on vibe you are looking for. Mill District or North Loop Downtown. NE Minneapolis. Longfellow or Seward. Uptown? St Paul Cathedral Hill, Como, Highland Park, Mac Groveland.

While I am no longer young nor single, I an pass along an observation / recommendation. St Louis Park checks off all your boxes. The Apt Building I lived in had uber car after uber car coming and going all weekend long. The area is very convenient to uptown (the popular destination of young adults) and just about everything else....

I know a new college grad who just moved to Highland Park, on Cleveland right across from St. Kates. Bus routes right there along with the river parkway being within walking distance.
