They still hold some car shows there called "Cars and Caves" but the MN Cars and Coffee (arguably one of the best attended in the nation) moved from that location to Mystic Lake Casino in Shakopee because it became too big. mncandc.com

Back to your question about where to reside. I would also vote for Excelsior or Saint Louis Park. If SLP,"The Shops at West End" or "Excelsior & Grand" areas would be a couple to look into. Otherwise, Uptown or Downtown Minneapolis would still be within your commute zone. It really depends on what demographic and 'vibe' you are after.
I went to the first one not at Chanhassen, they had it at Canterbury. Traffic was stopped on 169 about mile before the exit. I brought/parked my Porsche in the Porsche area of parking lot, that was also last time I went.

Agreed - we have gone to one, maybe two at Canterbury. Since the event has grown and changed location (Canterbury, now Mystic), it just doesn't get prioritized on my calendar.

I only liked watching cars leave the original place, people lined the street and watched people take off towards Prince’s compound. Cops didn’t care, but they sure lined up on highway 5. The people who sat on the curb and had their kids doing same, to me are idiots, car loses control and many people die. A Shelby cobra started going sideways once and it could have been really bad.

Thanks for the info on the changes to C&C locations. I'll definitely plan on checking it out next year, although I'm kind of with you guys in the sense that I don't know if I need to wake up at 5 AM to get there early enough to find a spot.

Yeah as far as demographic and vibe I guess I'd say someplace "artsy" would be great as I also paint for a hobby and would love to live in our near a neighborhood that does gallery openings or gallery walks. I'm definitely not a "Hipster" though, and I'm not obnoxious about fashion or the "perfect coffee", vegan, etc. I'd love to find a neighborhood with an art scene or some decent night life, especially some craft breweries and some decent variety of restaurants.

I should also clarify that the type of "nightlife" I enjoy these days is ideally a brewery, dive bar, Irish Bar, or someplace where the music is around "conversation level". I'm finally getting old enough to quickly read the room and Nope the hell out if all I see are 20 somethings dancing to horrible mumble rap. Clubs just aren't my scene at all. I also want to avoid landing in a sleepy family orientated suburb where the sports bar in the strip mall is the only option for entertainment.
