The only thing I used it for occasionally at a restaurant was to find concerts coming through town.

Too bad, another TC area Covid casualty.

It started as a music/food resource, and did that pretty well for many years, plus had some cool write ups on local landmarks and events.

Unfortunately it also wandered into leftist activism (which the article below laughingly calls "Speaking Truth to Power") I'll still miss it despite the later tilt into propaganda.

The name of it reminds me of the South Park episode or movie where they go to the City Wok, City Airlines, City Cab, etc...

Seems unfortunate to me.

Not many cities seem to have these weeklies nowadays.

In Boston, we lost the weekly Boston Phoenix after decades just a few years ago. And yes, it even had a personals page long ago. Then the weekday freebie "Metro" given free to commuters folded last year. Then the Improper Bostonian glossy bi-weekly magazine shuttered over a year ago.

Is your LGBT weekly going to survive, in print and/or online? Or has it already shut down like Chicsgo's which is online only now.

City Pages was unique here. The “news” part was useless but their database of restaurant reviews and the depth of their coverage of the music and community theater scenes was unparalleled. I guess the Strib just didn’t have deep enough pockets to subsidize it through Walz’s Covid lockdowns.

I wonder if the music/theater scene returns in the future, will it come back? You can’t sell advertisements in something that specializes in a demographic that is zero and has been for 6 months and doesn’t have a return in site. 1st Ave can’t be looking good now. I’m surprised the Armory hasn’t gone under considering it wasn’t functional long before state shutdowns/bands not touring.
