Are there any studios/apartments in Minneapolis that don't have 2.5 income requirements? I'm a freelancer, so this year has been hard, and I don't have anyone to be a co-signer.

What do you have that shows you’ll pay your rent? Six months rent up front? Triple security deposit? With evictions not being an option, landlords are having to be extra careful so you’ll have to show something that illustrates you’ll pay your rent every month.

I could do those things. Any advice for finding rental companies that are willing to accept them?

just call any of them if you're willing to put up 6 months up front I'm guessing most of them won't have a problem or they can at least point you in the right direction

also be willing to share your bank statement showing you have plenty of funds

I've read on the renting forum a couple years ago that it's very uncommon for a landlord to allow questionable applicants to instead pay a year upfront...for various reasons.

Maybe they're more desperate now, but I haven't read about major rent decreases in most cities despite some vacancies.

I’ve honestly never heard of renting without income requirements, usually at least 2 pay periods, and a credit check to make sure you haven’t skipped out on someone else. Nowhere I’ve been would have allowed exceptions. The only thing I can think of is renting a room in someone’s house. There are a lot of people who rent out a basement room here.

If someone offered to pay us 6 months up front for our rental - we'd take them for sure! Not sure if rental companies work the same way. Look into private people. Can be found on zillow.
