didn't see a single thread in this entire forum about the logistics and strategy of how we get past this and partisan nonsense will soon wreck this thread but here goes...

Heard that Target is planning on rebuilding their store and will continue to pay their 200 employees while that happens...

Some, like those with sufficient insurance can come back. Others, like the small businesses at the midtown Mercado may be gone forever. Not to mention the ones that were in smaller buildings they didn’t own but rented.
It will probably take years in any case.

that's the old sears site right?

could do some creative financing with the stadium(s) revenue stream to help with that, maybe a one-way troll bridge in Hudson.

Zygi? come on man we need you.

also Glen and the Pohlads.

They have to say this for PR purposes. A year or two down the line, when they have to make a go/no go decision, will they want to put money into this neighborhood.

I remember hearing that parts of LA that got burned down in the '68 Watts riots never got rebuilt. Areas subject to riots tend not to be considered investment grade, unless there is wholesale demographic improvement.

Who's going to want to open any store on East Lake Street again?

I heard a story on TV about a Latino owned brand new sports bar that was scheduled to be opened on Monday. The kind-hearted protesters that were gathering there to support the family of the guy killed by the cops, somehow decided that this bar needed to pay for what the police did and destroyed it. The bar owner put his life's savings in this and it wasn't insured.

Mayor didn't care as according to him, the protesters just needed to blow off some steam. Collateral damage.

As I posted on another thread, after this weekend, this part of Minneapolis may never recover.

It is. As I recall most of the financing was provided by Abbot when they bought the building to house a bunch of their staff. The midtown market itself though had some incentives from the city.

its all about money. all these burned out areas now not worth anything and some mega developers will come in and buy up all the destruction at pennies on the dollar, then build condos. surrounding neighborhoods will be priced out eventually

Nah. The City won't give the builder permits for that. The City will decide it should be a park & have a monument, so long as someone else pays for it.

The Lake Street Council has raised over $2 million so far to help small businesses rebuild. Please consider a small donation here.
