Hi!

The Twin Cities are all around extremely family friendly. Very good schools, parks, arts and public spaces, safe and comfortable. The job market here is good in medical from what I know but it's not my field. Unemployment is low and wages are very good compared to cost of living.

What type of environment would you want? City neighborhood, suburban, small town? Do you have family/friends in a specific town or side of the metro you would like to be near?

Both MPLS and STP have great family friendly neighborhoods, and there are quite literally dozens of family friendly suburbs.

There are great communities in every corner of the Twin Cities — I'd suggest finding a job first and then deciding where you want to live based on your desired commute times.

As far as good places to work, check out Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, Fairview Health Services and Mercy in Coon Rapids.

This.

If your criteria are as simple as "affordable and family-friendly," that is going to apply to the majority of neighborhoods/cities/suburbs. No reason to take on a long commute when you could live right near whatever job you wind up at.

Or, if there are other, more specific, things that you value in a neighborhood just let us know and we can provide more detailed suggestions.

Hi! My wife is an RN and has had no problem finding work. What kind of nursing do you prefer?

We have lived in the west metro (currently in Buffalo) and it's been a great place to raise our five children. As the previous poster suggested, I would base your search on job location since commuting across the metro each day would suck several hours form your day.

Monticello or Waconia are also great cities out this way. If you are looking southwest metro I suggest Lakeville or Farmington.

There are lots of great areas to live in the Metro. I'd center your search around your work locations. Once you have a job then we can help with where to live.
