Hi my apartment flooded again ,last time was last month.I aware that its my tough luck but I need to know a couple things. I am stuck here due to low income so my question is can I make them replace my carpet in my bedroom since it has been soaked at least twice that I know of with water that came up from the ground and is dirty enough that my kitchen floor is very dirty from walking back and forth to my bedroom?
My next question is I am sure this has been a problem in the past which I can't prove, (and i am sure it has been wet a couple times when i didn't notice due to furniture placement at the time, but the musty smell and allergies ramping upshould have clued me in), anyway the apartment behind me has a new tenant and that apartment floods when mine does , was or is the landlord obligated to disclose the problem or is it just the chance we take when renting?
My lease runs out in 8 days and they have not sent me a new one yet to look over( and yes I did call them) is this legal or common practice??? Its not easy to get there as I can no longer drive due to visual disability I am tired of being walked on but with low income i have no recourse
thanks in advance for your responses

You might also want to go to the MN Attorney General's website which has all of the landlord-tenant laws posted. The relevant section regarding repairs is here - Office of Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson - Landlords and Tenants: During The Tenancy

You may be at a bit of a disadvantage since your lease is expiring soon but they should have to give you at least 30 days notice if they intend to have you leave.
