This is random, but does anyone know of any organized Christmas caroling activities in the twin cities?

I know I could try to set up a yahoo meetup, but I'd rather just show up if there are already events that take place every year. I prefer instrumental, but vocal is fine, too. I'm looking for something where I can participate, not just listen to a performance.

I already know about the Tuba Christmas event in St Paul, but I don't play low brass, so...looking for something similar, but less restrictive. I'm in the St Anthony Park area, but I'm willing to travel a bit.

have you considered going around to houses in your neighborhood, ringing their bell and just start singing when they opened their door?

I could do that, but since I just moved here and don't know many people, I'd be going by myself. Don't think anyone wants to hear that, LOL!

That, and I'd really rather play an instrument than sing, which means indoors someplace (string instrument + snow = baaaad!)...which means organized.

If there's no such event, I'll create one, I was just hoping something already existed.

There are a lot of churches and community orchestras that probably do something like that. I know that most any church would be happy to have a string accompaniment for Christmas services at least. Check with the South of the River Orchestra or do a search online for something in your area that is similar. Maybe email one of the high school orchestra directors near you and see if they know of anything specific. Chances are they participate in something if there is.
