I'm assuming you mean people dressed up in costumes like you see at Disney World? I think Nickelodeon Universe might be your best bet.

That said, has your child ever seen a character like that in person? A lot of 2 year olds are terrified of the large cartoon characters in person. I had 2 boys, and 1 was afraid at that age and one was not so it definitely depends on your child.

those things still creep me out and I'm especially nervous around costumed rats of any kind

Yeah, Pump it Up is too much for a two year old.

The masked characters can be hard on little kids and it is something to keep in mind if you go with characters. We did backyard parties for our son when he was preschool age although I don't think we started until four. I'd check and see if the local community center had some space and packages. Those tend to be lower key and easier for little ones to handle.

I don't think pump it up would do a party for two year olds. It's pretty rough and tumble there. We didn't do a friends party until kindergarten. I don't think they'd get they whole idwa before then.

I agree...do something at your house with Grandparents or just your family and wait until they are in school to start the parties. As for the costumed characters, I also agree, not a good idea at this age.

My cousin had "Barney" at his party in the park when he was 3.......scared the living bejeebers out of the child.
He would not quit screaming until Barney left and he never watched Barney on television again.

For a 2 year old a small gathering with cake, ice cream and a few gifts with family is more than enough.
Being that young they usually don't remember much about the party anyway.

2 and a half words: Chuck E. Cheese! 2 year olds can't do a whole ton there but I think we took our daughter when she was a little younger than 2 and today (at almost 4) and she loved it and now she wants to go all of the time. Plus, it's cheap!

Sorry it's not an original idea though.
