I thought I read or heard somewhere once there was a house in Minneapolis that was an old WWll airplane bomber. The family lived in the fuselage of the airplane in the 1950's?

Is this still around or has anyone more information on this? Anyone seen this house before?

call you up in the middle of the night
Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a slow torch burning
I was a key that could use a little turning

Awesome shots! These kids must be tried! They rollerbladed from Uptown, to The Mall of America, to Downtown, St. Anthony Main, across the Hennepin Ave bridge, over to St. Paul, down the Mississippi River, and then I think they finish at Lake of the Isles… whoa…

I was browsing through some pictures on a photo web site, when I came across a nondescript building that somehow looked familiar. The caption on the photo was simply "North Minneapolis tenement" I emailed the picture to my older sister, who confirmed that this was a small apartment building we had lived in when I was about 4 years old (the early sixties). Today, Interstate 94 runs right through the neighborhood.

IDS Tower from about 1973 taken near City Hall. Towle Bldgs sit on the block that the Capella Tower now occupies. In addition to the Northwest Bank Weather Ball, the Northstar Omni Hotel also sported a large tower featuring a globe and the North Star which is visible just above the top of the crane. The tower and globe are still there although no longer lit at night.

dug these out in time for the Winter Carnival

I believe the largest and tallest Ice Palace was built for the 1992 Carnival down on Harriet Island, which coincided with the Super Bowl being held in Minneapolis and reportedly had 2.5 million visitors during it's short existence. Unlike the 2004 Palace, you could not go inside but it was elaborately lit and synchronized to a rousing music track.
