We are relocating to Waukesha County in June from the SLC area. We have two sons, an incoming Freshman and a soon to be Junior. We are looking for a great high school that will welcome new kids and be challenging as well. I see that there is a Catholic high school in the area too. Can anyone tell us the difference of the public high schools vs. the private Catholic high school (other than the high tuition of course)? My husband will be working in Brookfield and we are looking at the areas west/north/south of there. Looking for houses in the 300K - 400K range.

Look into Catholic Memorial. Great school.

Yes, I will. Is it worth the tuition? I hear the public schools in WI are pretty good though.

Kettle Moraine School District is awesome, and you can find great homes in that price range, unlike Arrowhead to the north and Elmbrook to the east, which are also great school districts but pricier.

Yes, I was looking at that area too. Seems like Arrowhead HS is SO big. We looked at Slinger HS but it seems too rual. But then again I've never been there. Anyone have info on Mukwonago High School? Or even Oconomowoc High School. Some of the web sites I've looked at said they have a big drug problem. But I guess a lot of high schools probably have that issue.

Mukwonago I believe is actually the biggest school in the state. Neither they nor Oconomowoc in any way measure up to Arrowhead or KM in scholastic achievement.

My advice, though, would be to tour 3 high schools that you like the looks of, because getting a feel by being inside can tell you and your children so much!

I personally moved to Oconomowoc HS and I was challenged and my GPA rose as being challenged i felt like i learned more in my one year there than my 3 years at Pewaukee in HS. Cant speak about Kettle Moraine other than i never personally met any prosperous graduates that attended school there.

Mukwonago is not the biggest school in the state.

I've never seen any data that shows that Mukwonago or Oconomowoc don't "measure up" to Arrowhead or KM. I think that's just your opinion. If I'm wrong, please show me some statistics.
