Just curious how you residents of Michigan feel about the twice per year clock changes......specifically the one in November. I'm in New England, and you all are on the western edge of the same time zone.

If we DIDN'T change the clocks backwards in November, you'd eventually have a 9:00 am sunrise. I'm a morning person, so to me that would stink.

Would you like Daylight Saving Time all year round, or continue as it is and fall back in November??

As a native Michigander, I would like Daylight Saving Time ALL YEAR AROUND.
Thanks for asking!

A sunrise near the 9:00 hour in December would be okay with you? And thank you for responding.

I'm a morning person, but I'd still rather have the extra hour of light in the evening.

More daylight in the morning makes me more productive at work.

I assume that most people do not feel strongly about DST one way or the other. My wife, who is not from the area, really dislikes DST. She is an early sleeper so those 9 PM sunsets don't gel with her circadian rhythm. To me, the changing of time is the only truly difficult part as nobody wants to lose an hour of sleep.

I strongly support DST year round. What good is light in the morning? I'm inside in the morning. I go outside later in the day and could use light then. Most people get off work at 5 o'clock, so the time between 5 o'clock and sunset is the time most people are likely to be outdoors doing some physical activity.

makes me more productive at work.

If being productive at work is your priority - great. Most peoples' priority is enjoying life AFTER work, which (In MI and other places) is only possible in the summer, and then only possible in the daylight, on days it is not raining.

That extra hour AFTER WORK is the difference between a round of golf or not - go fishing - or not - play ball with the kids (like little league) - or not. We do not do those things in winter mostly because there is not enough daylight after work to do so.

I think changing the time twice a year has outlasted whatever utility it may have had in the past, and the benefits it offers to a narrow selection of businesses are outweighed by the negative effects it has on everybody. I don't care whether we stay with standard or daylight saving time, I just want to stick with one or the other all year.

And then there is the question of whether we should be in the Eastern or Central time zone ...
