we were at super walmart the other day and my girlfriend pointed out something ominous. the ramen isle was PACKED. it was difficult to get the cart through and it seemed like everyone in line was buying ramen.
i think this is a red flag regarding our economy down here.

Maybe they just like cheap noodles? CiXel are you asian? Or do you just like asian food, I noticed you talk a lot about it, but I can see why you miss it since you're from LA. mMMmmm can't wait to go back to the NW and go to the international district. (I'm asian & I don't belong in FL...haha it's funny I only see asians in Plantation and Weston, when they see me, they're like WOAH it's my brother! The asians here seem to be straight from their country and keep to themselves, I on the otherhand am "different")...

nah both my gf and i are white. we make alot of asian food because my gf grew up in hawaii. we feel its very odd not having asian people around coming from socal. we go to lucky market on bird road or tim's grocery down here for supplies every so often. we also stocked up at the asian markets in socal during xmas. most of the stuff we've tried down here that passes for chinese food is SCARY.

I haven't ate chinese here for about 2 years now. One simple reason, I don't know if you caught this on local news, but many many many chinese take outs and restaurants were shut down because of "unidentifiable" meat. When meat from these places were lab tested for quality, they found that it was neither beef, chicken, pork or shrimp and cannot be identified. I'm asian and I KNOW what asians are capable of if it means making money. Plus, the chinese here caters to "african americans" and the owners don't give a sh*t what they serve. But for good sushi try Makinos on unversity dr. before commercial Blvd. or Kyojin on Federal Hwy. & Oakland Park Blvd.

Ohh...I'm a pasta person 100% and prefer it more than rice. I love ramen noodles when I'm pressed for time as do some of my friends and it has nothing to do with the price, at least in our case. It's the convenience...
Say you bake a chicken...have some leftover for the next day and don't have time to cook the next day with regular fettuccini or lenguini...I just pop a bowl w/water in the microwave, throw the noodles in the hot water an voila! instant pasta in minutes w/no pots & pan hassles...and of course throw the left over chicken/with leftover broccolli or whatever, on top of the noodles and you have an instant meal. I find them handy for emergencies...
