Where are some good/SAFE areas to find an apartment for a new flight attendant (22 yo) to live in Miami area? Must be able to get to MIA and Ft.Lauderdale airports within an hour drive time. Willing to have 1-2 roommates with rent (approximately)$1000 each person. Please help. THANKS!

Pretty much anywhere in Pembroke Pines or Miramar near the FL Turnpike is about the halfway point and fairly safe areas.

Former Miami based American Airlines flight attendant here. I recommend moving in with other established flight attendants who are looking for roommates. We had a bulletin board in Ops where people put up notices looking for roommates or places to live. These days it might be online.

If you already have colleagues to live with I would look in Hollywood or Dania. That’s where I first lived as a new hire. I personally wouldn’t live in Miramar unless Spanish is your first language or Pembroke Pines which is pretty much just suburban sprawl. (Sorry Kyle!) Stay east of 95 for the best weather and for proximity to the beach.

I was based in Miami for over 25 years so feel free to send me a DM if you want any more specific info about the airports, area, etc.

And best wishes on starting your new career! It’s a great lifestyle.

My first thought was beachside in Hollywood also but there's not any secured access apt complexes in that price range. While "suburban sprawl" perhaps it's at least safe in Pembroke Pines and Miramar with in-budget options.

Smile Davie!

So it looks like it's going to be Davie at least for the next year. Much more affordable and looks like it might more safe too. Really looked into Miramar and Pembroke Pines but the deposits and conditions to get any available apartments (and they go fast!) were crazy expensive! Got a great apartment in Davie so I hope it works out.

How about the Dadeland mall area/Kings Creek. These are safe areas right off the Palmetto expressway and much closer to the airport.
