I'm pulling for Miami but I'm still skeptical. I'd like to see the core numbers instead of % increase from 2016/2017 to 2021/2022. An 89% increase may not mean much if you started with a very low base in 2016/2017.

In my experience living here for the past few years I still believe Miami is a fake it until you make it city. All the hype happens with big headlines and the failures get very little publicity. I'll concede that Miami has become a much more appealing place to live in the past few years and that along with a low tax base will attract new business. I'd also be interested in what type of startups are on the increase. Tech? Financial? Crypto?... I'm a firm believer that tech startups need feeder academic schools in order to survive. Hence the tech sustainability in the Bay Area, Austin, Boston, LA and NY. Don't get me wrong, South Florida has some great academic institutions but they are not focused on tech like other areas.

Majority of it was due to crypto.... which is why Miami's startups had the worst crash of 2023 in North America lol... down almost 100%. Welcome back to earth

Truth, which is always why it's fun posting here. Miami has an amazing hype machine but results always fall flat. Fastest growing tech hub? Not even close, everyone moving here? Negative growth county wide. Startups are fastest growing in the world? Biggest crash in N.A in 2023, lots of capital coming here? Yet 20%+ in poverty within the city, people working two jobs, low wages. Crypto right? But all jobs have been lost, HQ's moved back to old cities or closed here and the world's largest crypto conference has left Miami for Nashville. On top of lack of transit, infrastructure, how the city cannot handle rain storms, floods during daytime, dumps raw sewage in the oceans and bay. It lacks the culture and education that you see in established cities, it's a city of hustling and grifting (just look at the mayor). I can go on, but so many people fell for the hype machine and it's pretty sad.
