Miami named Bon Appétit Magazine's 2023 Food City of the Year

"While travelers have always flocked to this oceanfront paradise for its sunny weather and world-class art, Greater Miami and Miami Beach have recently seen a rush of visitors and new residents alike—and the city’s culinary scene is keeping up. Miami is a cultural melting pot, where the Latin American and Caribbean populations have always played a starring role in shaping the local dining scene. Pair that existing culture with the recent influx of top-tier culinary talent from around the world, and you’ve got a dynamic dining destination well worth a visit."

"Editor-in-chief Dawn Davis writes that as editors traveled around the country looking for bold new places to eat, they admitted the one place they kept wanting to return to was Miami."

Clearly falling for the Miami hype and this is clearly U.S centric, so to me, doesn't count.

Makes sense! Great setting Miami offers and the city is making great strides in building-out interesting neighborhoods that would be great locations for restaurants to have an outpost. Like Pastis opening this summer!

I don’t necessarily have a problem with offshoots—provided we are not talking Sysco supplied Landry’s chain restaurants found in 40-50 other US cities. It’s not as though someone like a Thomas Keller, Stephen Starr, Massimo Bottura, Fabio Trabocchi, Jean-Georges etc are about to water down their reputation by over expanding nor is Surf Club, soon to open Bouchon, etc to be confused with a whored out Wolfgang Puck Cafe Express found at airports. Is NYC 3 star Michelin Per Se subpar because it’s an offshoot of 3 Star Michelin French Laundry?….no….is offshoot Landry’s owned Morton’s or Del Frisco inconsistent from location to location because they over expanded and look to cut costs often at the expense of quality?…yes.

I welcome local talent as well as top chefs from elsewhere who maintain their standards; in the case of Major Food Group and others from NYC—which you stated, and I agree, are good—instead of me having to fly up to eat at one of their restaurants they are coming to me. I see that as a positive, not a detriment.

I love Boia De! And their second spot Walrus Rodeo! https://www.walrusrodeo.com/

I believe the Boia De! chef is from Brooklyn.

2 of these restaurants are in Miami...

From a speakeasy hidden behind a freezer door to a Michelin-starred eatery concealed by a painting, North America's 17 most amazing 'SECRET' restaurants revealed by Time Out

Hiden - Miami, Florida
This Michelin-starred restaurant is 'hidden behind an unmarked secret door inside a taco restaurant’.

Blind Tiger - Aventura, Florida
This 'full-blown' Japanese restaurant sits behind Reunion Kitchen, one of a chain of restaurants.

Had dinner at Pastis Sunday night. REALLY nice space. They did an excellent job with the interior and exterior space. Food was top notch. Another great addition to Miami. Love the evolution of Wynwood.

Michelin just selected Rosie’s and Jaguar Sun as Bib Gourmand winners for its 2023 edition.

Still shocked as hell that Fiola did not qualify.
