10 receive 1 star, L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon received 2 stars. 19 Miami restaurants receive Bib Gourmand awards:

4 restaurants receive a star in Orlando, 0 in Tampa (shocked Bern’s did not get one).

This is awesome. I think Ariete is the only one I've been to sadly.

The Orlando Ritz restaurant wasn't there when I would stay there often in the previous decade.

Great news for the Miami restaurant scene!

I’m disappointed Tampa didn’t have any 1 star restaurants, but I’m happy for the restaurants in Miami and Orlando that made it on the list.

7 of the combined 30 Miami Michelin and Bib Gourmand restaurants were Asian (nearly 25%). On other CD boards I often read from “experts” how Miami does not have any good Asian restaurants. Highly doubt Michelin chose the ones they did to fill a quota.

I’m also somewhat surprised Fiola did not receive a star; though their DC location has one. Add La Mar and Leku.

I guess it's good for marketing, but does 95%+ of the population care about Michelin star restaurants? Probably not, especially towards something that is steeped in bias and elitism.

I found it interesting that Visit Florida needs to pay Michelin to go to these Florida cities to review their restaurants. In addition to elitism and bias there seems to be a pay to play element.

Michelin is important to chefs and restaurants and having such a distinction does get some people to frequent their establishments. It does drive tourism dollars.

Vegas being added next year I believe.

South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore also paid Michelin to review restaurants. CA paid a commission to get reviews expanded beyond the SF Bay Area. Restaurants still need to meet Michelin criteria to get a star(s).

I plan to visit San Sebastián at some point and in part to try one of their Michelin restaurants (Arzak) in the future.

BTW, there were quite a few others that received “recommendations”—including Joe’s and Berns—but recommendation is not the same as a Star.

Agree, found it weird that you have to pay to bring them. They should be coming on their own when the 'word is out' about a good restaurant. Like in the movie Burnt with Bradley Cooper that I love...So if that restaurant was in Charleston, S.C they wouldn't have come to a Michelin star chef's new restaurant because South Carolina didn't pay Michelin $3ML to check out their city's restaurants?

Maybe that’s their way of saying “we visited, but they’re just not good enough for a star.”? Otherwise we might think they accidentally overlooked somewhere that otherwise would have been worthy.
