No, it would have been a nice win if it was held in picturesque downtown Miami with views of the skyline and Biscayne Bay as originally proposed, rather than in and around a football stadium in a nondescript suburban area far north of the city. I suppose it is a win economically as people will still stay and party downtown & on South Beach, but other than that....eh.

Yeah, I hear you (just like the Miami Open belongs back in Key Biscayne—but that’s another matter altogether).

Still, will be a boost economically to the region.

Lol, what a horrible layout and location. In the middle of a giant parking lot in Miami Gardens? Which is a pretty meh neighbourhood, I'm sure the residents will be happy with all the noises and ruckus that will go down. Still don't think Miami should have been selected, there are more appealing cities to host a race. I would've gone for a 3 year deal if anything, 10 year seems very risky.

Maybe the site selection will remind attendees of the only other US Formula 1 host “scenic” Circuit of the Americas track in Austin (also 25 minutes outside their downtown in the middle of ???)....there will be plenty of opportunities for television viewers to be given glimpses of the greater Miami area skyline and water shots, as is done during Hard Rock hosted Super Bowl and other highly watched event broadcasts. I’m fairly certain Stephen Ross will insist on that, (not that he will need to)

Given a choice of having it (along with the economic benefits) or not, I choose have—unless “spring breakers” start twerking on the race cars....and it is yet one more selling point for Miami to use—in addition to having hosted the most Super Bowls of any city along with the most recent NCAA Football Championship and El Clasico—in its bid to be selected as a host city for the upcoming World Cup.

I am so excited about this!

I was hoping to get to Monaco this may for that race but this is better than nothing!

Formula One will attract the people it normally does. It is a pretty spendy demo. This ain't spring breakers.

Reminds me of the Meadowlands back in the 80's when CART held their races there. The track was next to Giants stadium.

Location is lame but it will benefit the Miami area economically. Although apparently the residents of Miami Gardens aren't so thrilled about it.

If you buy into the arguments of the following article, looks like the economic benefits will not be limited to the week of the race event itself:
