just completed my 6th month here in Miami (seems a little longer than that).

This seems to be a bit wetter/more rain than a typical June?....not too bad--though I would describe the entire month as having been partly cloudy to cloudy as opposed to partly sunny. I was under the impression we would get a passing shower or rain for 30 - 60 minutes and then it would become partly sunny or sunny.

Not complaining, mind you, just curious.....prior to my moving here, I also had June pegged as one of four months that would be challenging from a warm weather/heat perspective. That has not been the case so far--with the exception of a couple of days very early in the month the average temperature has been in the low to mid 80's--is that cooler than usual for this time of year?....so far this month, it seems as though it has been more humid than hot--though the humidity has not really bothered me (I don't freak out when I start sweating).

Also, to date, far fewer mosquito bites than I expected....(1) before moving, I was unaware there existed a dry season in SoFla (might have rained 9 or 10 days between mid December and the end of May), which would explain the absence of, or very few, bites during that period...(2) even with this month's precipitation, I still have only received 1 or 2 bites--maybe they do not like my cologne or my scent....I do notice, however, that (at least in Brickell) puddles do tend to stay around for awhile (i.e. until the next day) after it has rained which will probably make for mosquito breeding grounds when we get even more summer rain. Curious why the water from the rain does not evaporate sooner--poor drainage throughout Miami?

This has been the worst June in my memories here since we moved in 2010. Even living by the beach its been raining every day with that first week of June basically was dark and raining every single day with no sun .

Yesterday was better at least but today has been rotten again. Hope it clears up soon! Usually July/Aug bring the mid day rain storms but has sun before and after. Not sure what the deal is this year!

Too bad because May was beautiful for the most part...

maybe Seattle or Portland decided to take a vacation in Miami this month (only kidding--not that bad, though the sun has been missing in action).

i never understood why ppl often say south Florida rain is usually just a passing shower, etc... And then the sun comes back out.
While that is common during the Summer months, what ppl fail to mention is that long, extended periods of cloudiness and rain also common here, especially if tropical moisture is feeding into the area....it can be days upon days of gray, overcast skies with tons of rain.

Last summer was particularly dry and we didn't have as much rain IMO. It was sunnier and hotter.

if the tradeoff is cooler temperatures, I can deal with that...this past winter/spring was spectacular.

Winter and Spring is literally the reason why south FL is tolerable lol.
We have some of the best weather at those times.

Had quite a bit of sun yesterday. We spent a ton of time in the pool the last few days. I don't mind the heat/humidity and in fact, I don't really pay much attention to it anymore. I prefer the Summer over the spring because the ocean temps are much warmer, so ocean sports/boating/swimming is much more enjoyable - though still great all year.

Is this typical? In a sense that weather is not typical, sure. A couple weeks of rain isn't that big of a deal, it'll pass and you'll enjoy the sun again.

I have been in South Florida since 2000, and every summer was different.

My area has seen above normal rain for June so far and more clouds. We went about 8 months with no rain. I am 200 miles to the northwest of Miami.
