Just relocated to Miami for a job in downtown. What is the rush hour commute (morning and aft) from South Beach (Sofi) to downtown Miami (a few blocks from govt. center) using public transport? How early does the bus run? How long by car? Thanks!

Car ride in the morning is probably 12 minutes. Its an easy ride down the causeway past the cruise ships. The way back is probably 15-20 mins depending on the red lights you hit.

There is no real 'rush hour' from the beach to downtown or reverse. The only time traffic is bad getting to the beach is on a Saturday/Sunday around 1pm or later, during events, or if there is an accident on the causeway.

If you are taking a bus, I'd say double/triple that time. The bus is pretty smooth from the beach to the 1st exit but then you have all the stops once you get into downtown. Or you hop off the bus at the main terminal it takes you to, walk up to the Metro Mover and take that right into the Government Center. There are about 4-5 stops on the mover but its pretty quick, maybe 7-8 minutes from the bus terminal to Govt Center.
