As unfair as it sounds, they get food stamps, section 8 and other benefits the first year while they wait to become permanent residents... However, many of them had never work in their life since in Cuba is not really required to work for survival. As a consequence, many of them just stick to welfare and don't ever work.

Are the people comparing this potentially to the Mariel boatlifts of the 80's exaggerating? Or that this might be another ploy by the cuban government with a hidden incentive/agenda?

This is good.

Cubans are very educated people who suffer enough by not being able to accomplish their goals in their motherland. Yes, there are some who don't work and get section 8 benefits, but the great majority do take advantages of the opportunities this country offers. No wonder they are the most representative/successful Spanish-speaking population in America.

You shouldn't. Instead, you should start learning Spanish

I agree with you totally, this coming from a non-Hispanic person.

Well, if this is the case, how are these welfare-recipients who don't work going to be able to afford plane tickets over. Unless Raul has a fly-free for a day double A (American Airlines) policy.

I think is far from it. If the experience of living among them here is unbearable, can you imagine they invading Miami? Cubans are sectarians by nature thks to their racism inheritaged by their Spaniard- Afracian's background that make them feel they are a "superior race" (coming this thought from a inferior complex of course) and they tend to discriminate others not to mention they don't have morals (phallocentric culture, witchcraft practices, public charge, criminal and illegal practices etc..) They have a blatant disrespect for the American flag. They think Miami is Cuba!

It would mean a huge impact for the little decent population remaining in Miami It would be time to go...

I wonder if with the Venezuelan invasion will even out this a bit.

I'm confused. Are you aware Cubans cannot bring any assets from Cuba.? And most likely they don't have any assests in the first place. It's a communist country FYI

And just because they apply for social services it doesn't mean they need them. Many have family in the US who can support them but they will still milk the system.

Their family will send them money to fly to Mexico. They will cross the border illegally and once in the US they can apply for all the social services. If Cuban immigration increases, Washington needs to something about this or they will bankrupt the state.
