You leave. It's really not that hard to decide that

Look at the video I posted, think about living in a home or a first-floor apartment and owning a car you have to park on the street and then think what a storm surge would do.

So, the jury is out! Duh! (to myself) I do have to evaculate from my apartment from South Beach and before I do that, I've got to use storm shutters or plywood for storm surges and flood insurance (hate it or love it) My research: eHow | How to Videos, Articles & More - Discover the expert in you. | eHow.com Thank you guys.

Two choices:

1. You leave.
2. You die.

ras, you seem to be confused as to what storm surge is. When a hurricane approaches the coast, it pushes the water ahead of it. The water level rises until it over takes the land in front of it. Depending on the strength of the storm, the surge can be a foot or less, or like in the case of Katrina on the gulf coast, it can push the water level to 30 feet or more. So, anything from sea level to 30 feet above sea level is under water.
A surge protector is used to protect your valuable electrical equipment, such as computers and tv's, from the high voltage spikes that can occur during an electrical storm. They're useless once they're under water.
Anyway, have you ever been to South Beach? You might want to visit and spend some time there before deciding to move there. It's expensive, crowded, traffic is bad and there's a lot of construction going on, so the roads are in bad shape.

I predict a complete social meltdown, anarchy, mayhem, and rioting in the streets. People won't leave, they will want to "watch the storm"...or ride it out. There won't be services available, it will be Katrina, all over again.
