I just got a job in Hollywood (though they plan to move their office to Aventura/Miami by the end of the year) and am looking at condos. I have found two places I like, one in Hallandale Beach and one in Sunny Isles, both on the east side of US1. I am in my mid-twenties and having access to nightlife and people my age is important to me. Can anyone provide me some comparative information on these two places? I am having a hard time deciding.

I really like the area of Sunny Isles and the view would be amazing, but I hear it is congested and a little secluded (will have to travel farther to meet people and for general thing like groceries, etc).

But Hallandale is more centrally located and convenient, though it looks a little sketchy on the outside.

Sunny Isles is a much better area to meet people your age. The nicer parts of Hallandale are full of senior citizens. Also, Sunny Isles is a quicker trip to South Beach and Brickell/Downtown Miami, where most of the nightlife is located.

I lived in Hallandale for a month when I first moved to Florida and now live in Sunny Isles for almost 6 months. Neither city has a nightlife. The folks I know in Hallandale go to Hollywood to party. In Sunny Isles, either Hollywood or down in South Beach.

Personally, I found Hallandale a bit 'sketchy' and decided on Sunny Isles because I am single, and wanted to live somewhere secure and near the beach. Sunny Isles is a nice, clean safe city. There is a Publix, Navarros, CVS, Crunch Gym (clean and always empty), Starbucks (of course), Einstein Bros, and many other businesses. I'm able to run all my errands on foot without having to leave the city except for an occasional trip to Target in North Miami Beach. It's definitely not a young and hip crowd, it's a mixed bag of families, retirees and a few young single people, but it's safe. If your company moves to Aventura, your commute will be literally, minutes from Sunny Isles.

Good luck on your move!

Thank you so much for your input! You guys helped to show me that Sunny Isles is the one I was leaning towards and I think I am going to be really happy there.

I should have written back sooner but I have been so busy! I put in an offer to rent a condo and it has been accepted! Now I just have to get approved... Lol

I am so excited to get this moving process over with and get settled. Do you have any suggestions on where I might be able to go to meet people my age?

Sunny Isles is a great location my daughter lives out there shes is also in her early 20's and love it. By the way there is a Publix super market less than 5 blacks away. Aventura is also a great choice it is next door to Sunny Isles and also has much to offer. Only real difference Sunny Isles is basically on the beach and Aventura is less than a mile away from the beach. Good luck!!!

Sunny Isles also has a "Manhattan" feel and is more diverse than most of Miami Dade County ... large Jewish and NYC presence , Russians and other Eastern Europeans , wealthy Argentines , Brazilians , a growing Asian community ... it is one of the areas that I would like in Dade County if I were younger and single .
