Hi, I'm currently in Reisterstown MD, but planning on moving to somewhere cheap, I found Hagerstown online that got cheap housing and very convenience, but since I've never been there could anyone tell me more about this place? Is it safe? Country or city like? People are friendly? Racism? Property Tax? How it is different from Baltimore County? Any additional rules/law that are different than Baltimore County? Please help me out

Do a search for Hagerstown and read those posts.

If you're going to Hagerstown for "cheap" housing, the area will most likely not be safe. It all depends on your price.

well, i'm looking at the countryside, not the city, it is about 10 15 mins away from the city. price is like starting from 170s, close to 180s, I looked at reviews online, the rate is about the same as Reisterstown(which is where I am living now)

If that's the case, you probably won't experience much crime.

However, I'd suggest nearby Martinsburg or Charles Town, West Virginia. You would be able to afford a much larger home in the $170's. On top of that, there is more rural land with the essential amenities a short drive away.

Yes, that area is cheap and safe, right off of I-81, near a ton of shopping. I'd live there without any worries. That whole end of town has seen a lot of housing and commercial growth.

There are some very nice 'upscale apartments' (garages, balconies, community center, etc.) in that area if you want to rent first before buying.

Oh yeah, that area would be perfect for your needs! There is a lot of shopping and dining right in the general vicinity. A new elementary school will be constructed behind the center, so that would be good if you have children. It's also nice to be close to I-81.
