11 below and breezy this morning, but tomorrow for the waffle festival it will be 20 above before the snow starts around 9 AM. Get to Springfield early. Last one before Christmas. The next one won't be until January 6.
Tomorrow is the third Saturday in November so it is the Springfield Waffle festival as usual. It's a great country breakfast with home made baked beans and awesome waffles. Don't care for waffles? Then get the blueberry pancakes with eggs, and sausage.
Then on Thanksgiving Day the club is having a free Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixins. All are welcome. If you want to donate, that is OK, but nobody is going to ask for a donation.
Very Nice! Thanks for the thread & updates!! Cool idea & event!!
It sounds great! I'm too far away but this thread has at least inspired me to make blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup (of course) today. Not that it takes much to inspire me to make blueberry pancakes!!!!!!
Nappy--I only knew that one because I used to sell Depression Glass. I didn't know that word was still being used. My second thought was a diaper but that didn't make a bit of sense, lol.
Off to thaw out some wild blueberries right now...
Maine is the oldest state, not the first state, but the state with the oldest average age We took over from Florida several years ago. There are pockets were accents reminiscent of colonial times. My house was built in 1885. We are the third owners. When we bought it, the seller said to us, "Mistah. I'm sorry I don't have a key to give yuh. I didn't get one when I bought the place."
He had bought the place in 1942. He owned it for 41 years. Locally, it is still called the old Crocker place. They built it.
Waffle Alert!
This Saturday in Springfield, Maine the snowmobile club has a breakfast from 7 to 10 AM. It's waffles, blueberry pancakes, eggs the way you like em, sausage, biscuits, juice, coffee, tea, milk and the best home baked beans on the Trans Maine Trail. Yes, we eat beans for breakfast in Maine.
Hmm I'm intrigued. If and when we move to Maine, I'll make sure we attend. We love local flavor, ESPECIALLY when it helps the area. Also looking forward to having REAL maple syrup. I have gotten many odd looks around here when we were shopping. I was checking the labels, none of which were maple. There was one brand that had authentic maple syrup. Until I read the label. An the look I received when I asked the stocker if there was real maple syrup. My wife had to look away. Here I go rambling...
For 5 bucks...We are there. Hopefully real sooner than later.
Eight hours to go. Waffle alert for Springfield, Maine. 7 to 10 AM; June 3.
