Good for Lubbock. These all seem like solid companies to have in the community. I'm not sure how common the name is, but I'd be surprised if the Starnik CEO wasn't related to the former classmates of mine with the same last name who are also into tech enterprises, though they're now in the Bay Area. They're a standup family, and it's good to see them continuing to raise the bar in Lubbock.

The properties being removed include the building where the venerable Main Street Salon was located, and a small apartment complex on the north side.

In perhaps more pleasant news(?), I found a drawing of the other apartment development you mentioned, the Carlton House on 303 Detroit Ave., located NW of Jones Stadium behind the new Hampton Inn:

For every time there's a teardown, there's always something new being built up.

Default Bad news/good news

First the bad, Expo Center construction is put off indefinitely:

The good news is that Covenant Medical Center’s Hope Tower construction (on 19th St. across from the TTU campus) is set to resume shortly:

Default Dustin Womble Football Center

While this was announced about 12 days ago, I feel like because it should employ hundreds while it’s built and the estimated cost is $40-$50 million, it’s worth mentioning here:

Apparently construction should start early next year and be finished by 2023. Womble’s $20M gift is the largest in Tech Athletics history, and it’s his second such donation after leading off his namesake Basketball Center with $10M.

^^^ I just dig that Spanish truss. Nice touch.

In addition, lots of new houses are being built south of the new Loop 88 as well as in West Lubbock. Upland Avenue is undergoing some upgrades to a wide side-street corridor in the west (probably just 5 lanes, tops). That will be a gradual process, but it's coming.

Also, Circle K has six Coming Soon signs up at new locations in the south, the west, and northwest. What remains to be seen at this point is, which petroleum brand the franchise would pick to serve its Lubbock customers. I'd speculate with brands like Sunoco, Chevron, or possibly Shell, as Phillips, Alon, and Valero serve other partners. Conoco could work, but their alliance with Phillips could be a conflict of interest (as the latter already appears at stations with Stripes and United grocers).

And those two newest water towers look great! I took a look at both the Milwaukee and the 50th locations on my trip this past week. Final touches forthcoming. Great stuff is happening!
