CL needs to concentrate on quality instead of quantity and low price, IF they want to keep their customers in the long run. Especially these days, too many businesses focus on short-term profits to the exclusion of quality, and in doing so miss the broader picture. Companies can be tremendously profitable without delivering real, sustainable goods and services (i.e. crappy banks can charge all sorts of fees to customers, with little if any benefit to the customers).

If CL’s smart and wants to stop being the WalMart of internet service, start focusing on quality and so deliver those "real, sustainable goods and services" - even if it has to tell the shareholders they're withholding 2 yrs worth of dividends in order to pay for the quality upgrades. Then the shareholders can either hold or sell as appropriate for their strategies. In fact, that move may actually attract investors. Always good to get in at the start when a low-quality company moves to become at least mid-quality or better.

Yeah, in the short run such a project will cost a company its net profits, but in the long run it’ll be a more solid and reputable company – which is ALWAYS good for business no matter if its boom or bust cycle.

Good news. Just got a note from one of my financial websites that CenturyLink (stock ticker CTL) plans to add another 150 employees to the 2150 people it currently employs in the area. The intent of CTL is to build an outbound sales center focused on expanding CTL's customer base among small businesses as well as extending more products and services to existing customers. CTL will hold a job fair in West Monroe on Feb. 12.

Yes! Monroe is definitely it's own thing. What I've seen of it, it's much tidier than Shreveport. I travel the 165 regularly passing through. I think it should encompass the area from Monroe to the Arkansas line (including. Bastrop)and to the Mississippi River right before Vicksburg. I wonder what types of folks Century link will bring. I've seen the new facility...(at least it looks like they just built it) pretty massive. But I'm really astounded that Acadiana doesn't have it's own sub forum
