L'Auberge is considered a resort property, unlike some of the other casinos in Louisiana.

Dallas has Oklahoma and SBC casinos to frequent so their market isn't as vulnerable as Houstons/LCs.
Which is why, I again say this should be the last casino that LC builds. I also feel that LC needs to stop focusing so much on the south side of the city. The majority of travelers passing through this city are on I-10, not I-210. Should we not be trying to re-invigorate that area? You know give ppl a reason to stop off the interstate. One day officials will get it.....

It has to do with the property owners of that part of town as well. The northern section of the city is just not seen as desirable for development at this time.

They did have a casino/hotel on the north side, Harrah's but Rita wiped it away.

There is a big project planned for Lake Charles and you will be able to see it when you come in on I-10.

That will attract people into LC!

To be honest the North side of Lake Charles is a victim of poor real-estate management. Don't get upset at me for saying that, just go look at all the blighted unkept property in that area! Many have considered North Lake Charles for redevelopment ahead of the upcoming construction boom but walked away after seeing the poorly kept yards and litter in the area. Now, go visit Sulphur or South Lake Charles and it looks much better.

I think with the upcoming $20 billion of projects, the rising tide will lift all boats. A lot of the workers will be men that have a choice of a mancamp near Sowella (bad area) where they have to take a bus that will take 30 minutes or getting a really cheap house in North Lake Charles 10 minutes from their plant in Westlake.

There are some great historical homes and I think you'll start seeing a renewal with the Golden Nugget and Sasol expansions. Also, North Lake Charles is around 13-20 feet above sea level. South Lake Charles varies from -5 feet to 7 feet. When the next hurricane strikes (and it will), North Lake Charles is better situated.

My cousins live in Sulphur. Homes are 3' up from the ground, had water in the yard from he last hurricane. South LC was inundated and the flood insurance requirements now really affect development in low-lying areas.

1. Golden Nugget
2. L'Auberge (Lake Charles, not BR)
3. Harrah's Casino in New Orleans.

To me these 3 are way better than any other casino resorts in Louisiana

I'll second this. My vote for L'Auberge as well.
