I have lived here almost 27 years and have come to the conclusion this is a beautiful state, its great for an outdoors person who likes to fish and hunt, you cant beat the food, and most people are friendly. You have pretty much any sport you want to play and the schools are decent. However the weather here is nothing nice i love our spring but it last like a month. The crime here is some of the highest in the nation. I can say its not a bad place to live and im pretty sure i will spend the rest of my life here, however if i didnt have family here i would be somewhere on the east coast.

Education is a mixed bag in Louisiana, and I actually think the weather is nice here compared to other places. My biggest gripe with Louisiana always will be if you aren't in the service industry, chemical industry, or plan to work for the state, the job pickings are slim. I'm an IT guy and software developer, and I've had better luck searching out of state than in in terms of having real options to choose from.

Other than that, it's a nice place to raise a family, but if you go into a job industry such as mine you are screwed here pretty much. The opportunities just aren't here.
