Apr 20, 2010 7:00 pm US/Eastern MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. The house is still
there, a sprawling five bedroom, four bathroom waterfront mansion on a canal in
Massapequa, but the... owner, who'd been selling $50 raffle tickets for the
property, was no where to be found.

Comparing BigMike's and Crook's post count to rep total boggles my mind... Kind of like comparing NOVA to Massapequa!
Am I reading this right in that this guy took all the money he raised and can't be found now?
Comparing the two rep counts is misleading -- BigMike posts on some forums where people are more generous in giving rep. I find that off the LI board, I can harvest rep more quickly. Are we LIers rep misers?
Yes, the news report I saw two nights ago had the reporter at the house and the man who answered the door claimed to be a tenant.

I remember what the house looked like before it was bought by this guy and transformed into the mansion. it was a very small, 2 bedroom, spanish villa type of house, with stucco. we used to stop at the corner as a child in the 70's for the kids on the bus. it seemed out of place. now the house fits right in!
The ONLY thing that Massapequa house has going for it is the canal.
well, its at the end of a canal and they tend to be not the greatest. all the garabage ends up there. but other than that, its got a big piece of property.

All the garbage ends up at the end of the canal such as that ugly house and the owner who took the raffle money and ran!
