How do I find out if a relative had a will? (Riverhead: estates, county)

Without going into too much detail, had a close relative die early in 2009, was NOT notified by their immediate family, why I have no idea.

How do I figure out if they had a will, and find out what the will said exactly?

This is in Suffolk County.
