I can't believe my eyes when I watch the news and see all the snow in the Oswego area and elsewhere. I keep wondering what my family can do to help. We are planning on doing some kind of fundraiser but aside from snow plows, we don't know what's needed. Any suggestions?
I don't know what you can do either. Come visit us this summer maybe?
The National Guard was sent in to help here in Oswego County. A group of 45 Mennonites came from the Rochester area to shovel roofs for the elderly and those of rural barns. We're still getting snow albeit not in the four foot overnight amounts, but it is drifting. I imagine those out pushing it around are getting tired.
It can be expensive to have your roof shoveled, a couple of hundred dollars. But everyone pitches in here. We haven't yet run out of our second round of shovels as we had when Walmart opened this time of year, with a stock of summer shorts ironically.
I'll post some pictures so you can see what it looks like the rest of the year.
Beautiful pictures. It looks like you have a lot to offer in both the summer and winter months. It just so happens that we are planning our summer vacation this weekend. We have a few ideas as to where we want to go but nothing is firmed up yet. Any ideas for a family with 2 kids (10 and 14)?
As for my original post, maybe we can raise money for seniors to have their roof shoveled. The only quesion is, where do I send it?
