Received a solicitation from a new firm called "Flat Rate Grievances" that I have never heard of. Their offer sounds too good to be true. A flat rate of only $250 and they will go as far as filing a SCAR. Can't find any reviews for them online. Have anyone used them before? Thanks.

Jeff Gold on FB charges the same fee and is well known. He is the one that provides step by step instructions to grieve yourself in Nassau.

But worth doing it yourself, its takes 5 mins in total once you create the account.

Stop using these crooks. Do it yourself. For free.
These firms are in cahoots.

From earlier cahoot. This word was used in popular English literature in the early nineteenth century. It comes perhaps from French cahute (“hut”), from Middle French quahute, from Old French *cahute, chahute, possibly as a blend of cabane (“cabin”) and/or caverne (“cavern”) + Old French hute (“hut”); or alternatively from Old French ca- (pejorative prefix) + hute (“hut”). Also possibly considered to be from French cohorte, or a slang form of English cohort in the meaning "accomplice."

The fact they are in cahoots is the reason I have had my assessment lowered nearly every year for fifteen years. Doing it yourself, you may win your grievance once in a while.

Use the cahoots to your advantage!

^Curious as well. I’ve used a firm the past 4 years. First 2 they didn’t accept the “case”. The past 2 years accepted and nothing was reduced. So I’m looking for recommendations also.

I pay more than my neighbors every year by 1k-2k at least so I need to resolve this hopefully by this year.

I have personally (successfully) used Property Tax Adjusters in Syosset, as has my daughter and some of my clients. They handle both, Nassau and Suffolk County.

If interested, their contact number is 516.513.0466. Ask for Marsha Held or Elyse Sachs and tell them I referred you. No, I don't get any kickbacks, but they will only charge you 40% of the first year's savings, not the customary 50%. It's a one-time fee.

BTW, it's getting more difficult to prove your case because values have increased so much. If it's doable, they know how! Did it three times for me; the last time I was shocked they were successful.
