How about the jagoffs that choose to live there and do business there take care of their own mess? Why should tax payers foot the bill for retards that knowingly build and live on a barrier island prone to damage from natural disasters? They got all this money to afford to live and do business there but when there is a problem it’s “poor us” “help”.
Go pissup a tree.
The Army Corp released $3million for Fire Island restoration, I don't see how taxpayers can continually support this with sea level rise. They need to be retreating, we should have never built on the barrier islands up and down the east coast.
Very little sympathy for Fire Island as they held up the condemnation of water front properties after Sandy for the restoration.

Solution to climate change is keep adding sand.

Sea levels are allegedly rising at the rate of about .1 INCHES per year, and not uniformly across the globe. In the modern climate catastrophe era sea level changes, so far, have had zero effect on the LI coastline.
