I went with the Merlin Smart Mesh this time around. I previously had a solid loop loc. The problem with the loop lock was the water build up on top which I had to drain off. Always had a pump and hose on top of it. Also hated dealing with wet leaves that prevented proper drainage.
The smart mesh allows the water to drain through, it always appears nice and tight, the leaves are easy to blow off. You will have some green water when you open it, but that is a quick fix, worth it to me.

$100 Tarp, beats the $5000 loop loc quotes they gave me. There is no functional benefit of loop loc other than safety of being able to walk on it. Not sure why would anyone need to walk on the pool cover, unless you constantly have kids on your backyard, or pets, etc, and no gate around the pool.. Also loop lock lets water and sun through unless you get solid then you still need a pump over it. It just feels like it's for looks more than anything.

Let me know how that tarp works out for ya during the next snowstorm.

I didn't have any problems last year, as long as you don't buy $20 tarp, and secure it with enough weights, I don't see why it should be a problem.
