Trying to get an idea how far we should purchase a house from the train stations.

I was just at the Manhasset train station last week. I drove there but didn't get a chance to look for any bike racks. That area is pretty busy. I don't know about riding a bike around there especially at night. If it was up to a mile I would walk. The lot isn't big but it was getting full by the late morning hours.

You are playing with your life if you want to commute on a bike in the Northshore.
Too many distracted drivers.

Plus, Northshore wealthy snobs will look at you funny if your are biking for commuting purposes. Only the Lance Armstrong wannabes all dressed up in tights with their 10k racing bikes on the service road is acceptable here.

Will commute by train. Thinking of biking from house to train station; will have to be at midtown at 7AM anyways, so it will be early.
Don't care if people look down at me. It's all about how self-confident you are.
