Total for first kid $4700. Insurance paid $2000. Braces just came off. 2 1/2 years.
Second kid $5700 just put on. Expected to wear for 3 years

$5700 per kid. One had the Damon system. For all the hype, the only advantage I saw to the Damon system was that it's easier for the tech to change the wires. However it did not cost any more money so it was OK. Both kids had them 2 years. Insurance paid 50%.

Insurance covers half which's great help. So $2k-$3k isn't very heavy compare to $5-8k.

When is this evolution thing going to kick in, and have our kids teeth grow in straight?

My daughter was older when she got her braces (her teeth were slow to emerge) and within
a year of getting them put on, she removed them herself.

3500 for palate expander (luckily the orthodontist has a payment plan because it was not covered by insurance!)
Braces are about 2 years in the future. Insurance should cover a sizable portion of it.
