Hi, searched but could not come up with anything. Has anyone hired a Home Health Care Agency to help with an elderly parent that lives alone?
My elderly Mom, who lives along, will be getting out of rehab for broken hip in a few weeks and will need some aide for a few hours per day. The social worker at the center gave me a list of agencies to call but cannot recommend one in particular.
I would be there for the interview/first day but after that I could not get there until weekend. After hearing some horror stories, I am a bit concerned.
Hopefully someone can give me some info and/or advice!
We used All Metro (in Lynbrook) at different points for both of my parents. Overall, we were pretty happy with them. As with all agencies, it sometimes takes a little while to find the right aide.
Best bet is through a recommendation from someone else who used a specific aide. You could also try Nextdoor and then you can interview the aide directly instead of having the agency send someone. Is Medicare going to pay for it?
Marian Care in Williston Park is a fabulous agency. I know several people who have been assisted by their companion and aides.
