we are looking to buy a house in LI - were looking at woodbury/syosset and someone suggested cold spring harbor. i have never been there and unfortunately don't know anything about it nor anyone who lives there.
can anyone tell me about the neighborhood, town, people, etc so we can see if this is the right fit for our family
thanks

The town itself is very small, quaint. It borders Huntington so when you want something a little bigger, that's right next door.

The high school is tiny, graduating just over 100 kids per year, and draws kids from Lloyd Harbor, Lloyd Neck and a small section of Syosset as well (Laurel Hollow).

It probably runs more Catholic than Woodbury/Syosset.

ETA I see from previous posts you're looking for a more Jewish community, I grew up just streets away from the CSH district and knew kids from church and work who lived there. It's been 25 years since I lived in the area so others may have updated information, but back then if you were looking for a Jewish community it wouldn't be my choice. Do I think you'll experience discrimination? Nope. But you seem sensitive to being an obvious minority and back then you would have been.

Thanks for the info.

i just looked at niche and while there are 1800 students it goes from grade 7-12 so doesn't that put it about 300 per year. Still considered small so thanks for pointing it out.

i thought the town might run more Catholic than Woodbury/Syosset so thanks for confirming.

I did hear it a nice town and had a friend so ended moving to Huntington bc he said CSP was too expensive and the housing market wasn't big when he was looking

Lived there for 17 years and loved it (including the close proximity to the LIRR )
With kids on their own, it was time to downsize and I did.

Currently, there are 30 homes for sale, ranging in price from $659,000 to $12,500,000 - nine have an asking price below $1 million.

wow, surprised to hear that, when I was in HS I think my friends were graduating about 110 per year. Still small, though. And they've never done valedictorian/salutatorian either. Top 10 in the class get recognized.
