Whoa, didn't know this! I would guess that Stew Leonard's right next door put a huge dent in their lunch crowd. Stew's has a pricey but incredible buffet. Plus there was always a long wait for food at Bagel Factory and everyone milling around in front of the counter where the cashiers are.

Our friends owned a very successful bagel shop for 20+ years and it's not an easy business. Up at 2am 6 or 7 days a week to start making bagels etc, open from 5:30am to 2pm on average, clean up yourself or pay for clean up. In bed by 7pm to start anew. She said they just had enough of living like raccoons.

It wasn't for lack of businesses, supposedly the building owner did not want to renew their lease. I imagine stu leonards is planning to occupy the space.

Dear customers/friends/family

Thank you for an amazing 15 years of business. The Bagel Factory of Farmingdale has decided to close its doors for the new year. We thank you for all of your support and patronage over this time. It’s time for new beginnings and opportunity’s.

(One last note)

Anyone who has been spreading rumors that stew Leonard’s supermarket expanding etc etc has anything to do with this you are sadly mistaken it’s false. Stew Leonard and his management and entire staff has been nothing more than an asset to the community and shopping center.

Thank you and god bless.
